Chris Cartwright
Currently based at Keystone Academy in Beijing as Director of Experiential Learning. He arrived in China following 17 years in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where he established MIOL the Mongolia Institute for Outdoor Learning, while teaching at the International School of Ulaanbaatar and Ikh Zasag International University. At Ikh Zasag, Chris created an Ecotourism and Adventure Sport Leadership Programme; an undergrad 4-year course, experiential in nature, to fulfil the needs of the tourism industry in Mongolia.
Chris is originally from the UK, where after a short period of employment as an engineer, started professionally in Outdoor Education in 1984. Working with schools and Outdoor Centres, Chris soon established a great reputation as a Coach and Trainer. His career includes time as a Technical Advisor for several organisations, specialising in schools’ expeditions and water sports, and as Chief Instructor, a Safety Officer, Senior Trainer and Experiential Learning Consultant. He is also a qualified Teacher.
Over the turn of the millennium, Chris undertook a 3-year journey through Asia, SE Asia and the Indian Sub-continent. Working as a River Guide in Nepal, cultural interpreter in New Zealand and Expedition Leader. Chris has summited Kilimanjaro 16 times and lead over 60 trekking expeditions to the greater ranges.
Chris is an International Award, Gold Award holder, receiving his award from HRH the Duke of Edinburgh in 1984.
