OFFSEAS Presenter Code of Conduct
OFFSEAS conference sessions exist to share knowledge, practice, and ideas that attendees can take back and apply in their own outdoor education settings. Sessions are educational in nature and are NOT a venue for marketing, sales, or company promotion. By submitting a proposal, you agree to deliver your session in keeping with the following expectations.
During your session, presenters are expected to:
- Focus on transferable learning — pedagogy, skills, research, case studies, or practical takeaways — rather than your organization’s products or services.
- Keep any reference to your own organization, products, or programs incidental and only to the extent necessary to provide context for the learning being shared.
- Present in a vendor-neutral way where relevant, acknowledging that comparable approaches, tools, or providers may exist.
- Use the provided template slide deck not your corporate slide deck.
The following are not permitted during sessions:
- Wearing branded uniforms, matching company apparel, or clothing whose primary purpose is to promote your organization (a discreet logo on normal professional attire is fine).
- Displaying banners, pop-up stands, signage, or promotional displays in or around the session space.
- Delivering sales pitches, pricing information, special offers, or calls to purchase.
- Distributing marketing materials, brochures, or branded merchandise, or collecting attendee contact details for sales or lead-generation purposes.
- Framing the session as a product demonstration or using it to drive sign-ups or bookings.
We recognise that organisations may wish to promote their products and services to the OFFSEAS audience. Dedicated promotional sessions and exhibition opportunities are available to event sponsors and partners; please contact the organising team (info@offseas.community) if you are interested in these. This keeps educational sessions and commercial activity clearly separated, which is what our attendees expect and value.
The organising team reserves the right to decline proposals that appear primarily commercial, and to ask a presenter to adjust or stop session content that breaches this code during the event.
