Aleka Bilan
Aleka Bilan has worked with international students and their families on four continents for over 30 years. She currently serves as the Director of Wellbeing at UWC Thailand, in Phuket. In that role, Aleka is the Designated Safeguarding Lead, oversees the social-emotional and mindfulness programs, and the school’s health center. She works to introduce positive transitions-care programming into different areas of the school, including through outdoor education and experiential learning.
As a member of a multi-generational global nomad family, Aleka believes that transitions-care is foundational to human belonging and connection. She volunteers as part of the leadership team at Safe Passage Across Networks (SPAN), a non-profit organization that is the leading provider of training, resources and research surrounding positive transitions-care in schools. In that role, she hosts the award-winning global online gathering called “The Nest”.
Aleka is a Professional Certified Academic Life Coach, who believes in supporting young people to arrive and thrive at the next step of their educational journey. She is a coach trainer for Coach Training EDU, a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), International ACAC and the International School Counselor Association (ISCA).
